Return to Tamar Braxton

Concert Review: Tamar Braxton Love & War Tour

Tamar Braxton brought down the house in Chicago this past Friday, June 6, 2014. She was in town for her sold-out Love & War Tour at the Concord Music Hall. All of Tamar's fans, cleverly named Tamartians, were out in full force for the show to see their Queen. I had the pleasure of meeting Tamar before the show. She is an all around down to earth and humble person who hasn't let fame get to her head.

Tamar was backed by four backup dancers, two male and two female. A big screen on stage displayed different clips from her reality shows "Braxton Family Values" and "Tamar & Vince," along with her recent music videos. The show opened with Braxton's hit single "The One" and the crowd went bananas. Dressed in a sparkly white body suit with a hood and white Versace strap heels, Tamar dazzled the crowd with her dance moves and her long blonde curly hair.

After a couple of upbeat songs, Tamar slowed things down and sang her beautiful ballads "Prettiest Girl," "White Candle," and "Stay & Fight" on a red stool before closing that segment of the show with the song "Where It Hurts." She then appeared back on stage wearing a beautiful nude body suit adorned with red roses. She sang the sultry "Sound of Love" accompanied by a male backup dancer where some sensual choreography ensued. Tamar left the stage after the song for her final costume change of the night.

She reappeared on stage with a bedazzled blue jumpsuit for the last part of the show. She went on to sing "One on One Fun" and the fan favorite "Hot Sugar" where she twerked and danced all over the stage with her backup dancers. Tamar then took the time to speak about the gun violence happening in Chicago and said how it is too beautiful of a city for all of this hate. For the encore, Tamar gave five fans the opportunity to sing her #1 single "Love & War" with her before concluding the song herself and closing the show.

Tamar's Love & War Tour was an all around amazing show that definitely kept the audience and myself entertained. Her tour continues throughout the rest of the month and will rap up in San Francisco on June 23. The new season of Braxton Family Values premieres this August on WE tv and her new talk show, The Real, alongside Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry premieres this September on your local tv station. Tamar is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Until next time, it's Nick Gallo, Gallo The Guy You Know!
