The Alarm

Frontman Mike Peters is the sole original member of the Welsh band that made some noise in the ‘80s with “Strength,” “Rain in the Summertime” and “Sold Me Down the River.” Peters told the AJC’s Rodney Ho that he takes an oral chemo “every day to stay alive” after being diagnosed with leukemia in the mid-1990s. The joy of performing is also still very much alive in Peters. “The band has grown with our audience. We’re still in sync with them. It’s absolutely everything we hoped for when we started the group in 1981,” he said.
