Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010

COUNTRY QUEEN: Carrie Underwood, who recently nabbed the Academy of Country Music’s entertainer of the year award, will continue her blockbuster performing and touring schedule with a 7:30 p.m. visit Saturday, Nov. 6, to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. Her “Play on Tour,” featuring opening acts Billy Currington and Sons of Sylvia, will run through mid December, with more than 100 dates throughout the United States and Canada. Underwood is a five-time Grammy Award winner and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She has been named entertainer of the year twice by the ACM and three times by the Country Music Association. She has amassed more than 11 million in U.S. album sales since her debut CD in 2005, more than any other “American Idol” winner, and has became the first country artist to achieve 12 consecutive No. 1 singles. Tickets to her show range from $35.50 to $55.50. For details, call (800) 745-3000 or log onto

SONS OF SYLVIA, which will open Underwood’s Verizon Wireless Arena show, released the CD “Revelation” last spring on 19 Recordings/Interscope Records. Ashley, Austin, and Adam Clark — formerly known as The Clark Brothers, who won FOX’s “Next Great American Band” competition — are longtime friends of Underwood, and the band is featured on her current album on the tune “What Can I Say.”
