May 31. 2004 - San Diego rock group Switchfoot continue their trek across America playing to sold-out audiences. Jon, Tim, Chad and Jerome recently made a special stop in Los Angeles to perform their breakthrough Top 5 Modern Rock hit “Meant To Live” & newer hit “Dare You To Move” on the summer concert show Pepsi Smash. The show will air June 17 on the WB. “Meant To Live” has spent over 16 months on Billboard’s Modern Rock & Alternative charts. The single has also crossed over to Top 40 radio and is #9 this week. The video for “Meant To Live” is also in the Top 20 on MTV, MTV2, Fuse, VH1 and Canada’s Much Music channel’s, and was directed by Laurent Briet, who helmed the lens for Radiohead’s “Like Spinning Plates.”

The Beautiful Letdown is Switchfoot’s debut release for Columbia/Red Ink and is the bands fastest selling record to date passing the 1,000,000 mark and being certified platinum by the RIAA in May. The album is currently #44 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart after over a year of being released. The second single & video from The Beautiful Letdown is “Dare You To Move” and climbs to #13 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart. The video can currently be seen on Fuse and MTV2.

Switchfoot also have a brand new DVD in-stores titled Live in San Diego.
Live in San Diego was recorded at San Diego’s fabled punk rock venue Soma and features a scorching set of tunes from The Beautiful Letdown and some of their earlier recordings. The DVD takes fans behind-the-scenes of the “Meant To Live” video shoot and features exclusive & candid interviews with the entire band, as well as exclusive photo galleries.

Switchfoot has experienced astonishing success both on radio and within other media this past year. The band has toured the country four times to sold-out crowds since early 2003, were featured in Rolling Stone, USA Today and have performed on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Call With Carson Daly, CBS’s The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and Fox’s On Air with Ryan Seacrest shows. The Beautiful Letdown was also awarded with the 2003 San Diego Music Award for Album of the Year and Best Pop Album of The Year. Switchfoot first received critical acclaim for the debut release The Legend of Chin, which was recognized with an ASCAP award for Best New Artist at the 1997 San Diego Music Awards. Jon Foreman, frontman and guitarist for the group, was awarded the “Les Paul Horizon Award” at the annual Orville H. Gibson Guitar Awards in 2001.
