RED SUN RISING CONCERT REVIEW
We were thrilled to see Red Sun Rising play on April 13 at Knitting Factory in Spokane, WA. The Akron, Ohio band is currently on tour to support their sophomore album, Thread, which was released on March 30.
Lead singer Mike Protich along with Ryan Williams (guitar), Ricky Miller (bass/vocals), Dave McGarry (guitar/vocals) and Pat Gerasia (drums) came out to tons of applause from the energetic crowd. They kicked off the show with a perfect version of “Push” from their 2015 debut album, Polyester Zeal. During the song, Protich danced around the stage using 2 mics — one to distort his voice for part of the song. This unique sound really got the crowd excited.
Following this, they played one of their biggest hits, “The Otherside”, which had fans singing along to the chorus. They continued with a mix of their most popular songs including “Clarity”, “Lonely Girl”, “Amnesia”, “Unnatural”, “Deathwish”, “Veins”, “My Muse”, and an incredibly intense, hypnotic version of Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited”. This was quite a surprise, and the crowd loved it.
They closed out their set with “Fascination” and “Imitation”, but the show wasn’t over yet! They came out for an encore, and performed another of their number 1 hits, “Emotionless”.
