Suite101 catches up with Anthony Ladao from the pop group Midnight Red, where he talks about their upcoming concert at Gramercy Theatre in New York City.

On Thursday, August 23, 2012, Suite101 catches up via phone with Anthony Ladao, a member of the pop boy band Midnight Red. At 19 years old, Anthony is the youngest member of the band and he credits Usher as the main reason that he is doing music today. "I think it is such a cool thing that our music has had an impact on so many people's lives and that brings a smile to my face. All that I ever really wanted to do with my life is to share my love for music with people and the fact that I can do that is truly amazing," he says.

Radio Single: "Hell Yeah"

The pop group is signed to Interscope Records and their lead single, "Hell Yeah," has elements of Chris Brown, Ne-Yo and LMFAO in it. "We really believe in this song and we are trying to push it to radio," he says.

It was produced by RedOne, who has worked with such mega-stars as Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, among many others. "When we first met him he embraced us and respected our music. He is very family-oriented and he made the environment comfortable to record," Anthony says.

Upcoming Show at Gramercy Theatre in New York

On Friday, September 21, 2012, Midnight Red is expected to perform a headlining concert at Gramercy Theatre in New York City. "It's going to be one of our biggest shows yet," he says. "I have never been there so I am excited to go to new venues. There will be lights, choreography and it will be a full-length production. We will be giving things away and this is going to be one of our greatest moments. It'll be a high energy show and it should be really fun."

Covering Shai's "If I Ever Fall in Love"

In August of 2012, they covered an R&B classic tune "If I Ever Fall in Love" by Shai. "It has been covered by almost every group and we really wanted to take that song and make it our own. We wanted to show people that we want to go for that No. 1 spot. Not only do we dance and perform, but we really go sing," he says.

Other noteworthy covers of theirs include One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" and 'N Sync's "This I Promise You," which they perform in two languages: English and Spanish. "We really respect all of the boy bands that are out there such as The Wanted and One Direction so we paid tribute to them by covering their songs," he says.

In his spare time, Anthony enjoys playing golf due to its relaxing nature, as well as skateboarding and playing basketball. Although he and his fellow band members do not have any personal trainers, they rely on each other for staying fit. "I contact the other guys and we hit the gym and we all keep each other motivated," he says. "We keep a good diet too even though it is sometimes hard, especially when we are out on the road."
