WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26

You are not likely to hear much opera being played in bars in D.C. Or anywhere, for that matter. This is where Wonderland Ballroom steps in. They will have Opera on Tap this week, featuring Mary Ellen Brennan, Melissa Chavez, Elizabeth Mondragon, Maggie Ramsey, Carla Rountree, Jenete St. Clair (and her cello!), and Dave Chavez on piano. Opera on Tap is a Brooklyn based nonprofit who's mission is "to promote opera as a viable, living and progressive art form deserving a place on the American cultural landscape." 8 p.m. FREE

New York rockers The Pretty Reckless come to 9:30 Club, supporting their junior album, Who You Selling For, which they released in October. Led by Taylor Momsen, The Pretty Reckless have quickly established themselves as a formidable group in the industry, guided by a strong and ambitious woman in a genre where women rockers are hard to come by, and harshly judged. Momsen stands against the judgement and shows that she belongs. 7 p.m. $30.
