The Pretty Reckless Sell A Hit In New Album Release

October 22, 2016 New Musicnewspostreleasereviewrock

The ladies of rock are out in full swing as of late as “The Pretty Reckless” have released their newest album “What You Selling For,” via Razor & Tie. Led by singer Taylor Momsen, fans will certainly get a kick out the albums dynamic feel and mixture of tones that give the album a well rounded hook that is both soft, yet edgy.

The album is the third release by the band. Co-written by guitarist Ben Phillips, the album showcases 12 tracks that highlight Momsen’s singing ability greatly. She is known for her sense of dark, soulful, bluesy lyrics that many female rock artists don’t carry heavily today. Formed in 2009, the band has taken in a great deal of success in their own right, releasing their debut album “Light Me Up”in 2010 and “Going to Hell”in 2014. Today, the band is going on strong with their newest batch of songs that are sure to get fans excited.

The band brings forth a great deal of intensity, but also a level softness that shines through with a nice female touch that Momsen brings to the table. Produced by longtime collaborator Kato Khandwala, the album features a great deal of tracks including “Take Me Down,” “Back To The River,” “Wild City,” and many more that bring a new light to the few female led bands out there today.

Their first single “Take Me Down” upon release had yet again captured the number one spot on the rock charts, after first topping the charts back on August 29th. In addition to this, it has remained in the top 3, despite going up against some tough competition, including Green Day and Metallica for top spot.

In fact, have you ever wondered just how good this band is? Well, despite there not being too many female fronted bands out there, there are still a good number of them to make enough of an impact. With that said, The Pretty Reckless is the only female led band on the charts top 30 songs as of right now. That’s certainly a heavy badge of honor, and one to hold up with pride as the band presses forward to greater success.

In pressing forward, the band will see more light of day with their fans as they are currently out on tour with “Holy White Hounds,” and “Them Evils.” Fans can expect to hear a great deal of the songs off the new album, along with old favorites.
