PENTATONIX KICK OFF 2013 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN LOS ANGELES ON JANUARY 24
WITH A HANDFUL OF ALREADY SOLD OUT DATES, BAND ANNOUNCES NEW DATES, EXTENDING TOUR THROUGH MAY
CHANNEL REACHES 50 MILLION VIEWS & 400K SUBSCRIBERS
LOS ANGELES, CA - On January 24, vocal sensations and winners of season 3 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” Pentatonix, kick off their 2013 nationwide tour at Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theater. The first leg of their tour will take the group throughout the US, with sold out stops at San Francisco’s Warfield Theater and New York City’s Best Buy Theater, concluding in Austin for a showcase at the famed South By Southwest Festival.
While the previously announced 2013 dates all approach selling out, the band has announced another dozen headline shows, including inaugural stops in Honolulu and Vancouver and returns to Portland and Seattle, where Pentatonix sold out shows in December, 2012. These new dates extend the group’s tour through early May and are listed in full below. Both general and VIP tickets will go on sale this weekend via the band’s website: www.ptxofficial.com/tour.
The nearly 40 confirmed and announced 2013 dates follow the massive success of the quintet’s 2012 tour, which sold out in its entirety despite being the group’s first ever tour.
Additionally, Pentatonix recently released their YouTube cover of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” which surpassed the million-view mark in its first 96 hours. This follows the success of the group’s previous offerings, an N*Sync medley and a Swedish House Mafia mash-up. All three arrangements will be performed on the group’s upcoming tour. The YouTube videos (and more) can be found on the Pentatonix YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/ptxofficial.
On top of their
live performance and YouTube release schedules, Pentatonix are also
arranging and recording PTX Volume 2,
planned for a Spring release.
After winning the most recent season of NBC’s “The Sing Off,” Pentatonix enjoyed a whirlwind of success in 2012. They released 2 EP’s – PTX Vol 1 & PTXmas – twice debuting on Billboard’s Top 200 and selling a combined 85,000 albums. Their television appearances included The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, The Katie Couric Show, The Talk, The American Music Awards Red Carpet Show and VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live! They have been regularly featured by RyanSeacrest.com and Perez Hilton. The Philadelphia Inquirer reviewed their fall tour and said:
No strictly vocal act sounds more ecstatic in triumph than Pentatonix… Euphoric best describes the joyful, self-described “futuristic a cappella” quintet who played before a wildly enthusiastic Philly audience.
Pentatonix are taking instrument-free music far beyond anyone’s wildest expectations. Named after the world’s most widely recognized five-note musical scale, this vocal quintet has transformed one of pop music’s purest and most soulful expressions into an exciting future, filled with limitless sonic possibility. Pairing their intricate arrangements with cleverly re-imagined pop songs, Pentatonix have quickly cultivated a sound and style that is entirely unique and undeniably infectious.
Barely a year old, the Pentatonix YouTube channel boasts 50 million views, buoyed by more than 400,000 subscribers. The group also has more than 200,000 Facebook fans and nearly 70,000 twitter followers.
