Pentatonix’s ‘That’s Christmas To Me’ Inches Closer To Platinum
Posted on 12/19/2014 at 11:24 AM
It’s safe to say a capella pop group Pentatonix have this year’s go-to Christmas album. With That’s Christmas To Me, featuring their explosive takes on many holiday standards, The Sing-Off Season 3 champs are inching closer to having their first-ever platinum album. As of this week, with the disc moving another 218,000, the record has sold over 819,000 copies. All this means is: with the coming sales week (ending Sunday, Dec. 21), the album should vault over one million copies sold. If the group sells at least 181,000 units, they will hit the milestone.
It was only a short few weeks ago that That’s Christmas To Me was officially certified gold. The sales have simply continued to flourish, and there’s no signs it’ll slow down. The album was released on Oct. 21 through RCA Records. During the Dec. 5 Grammy Nominations Concert, PTX were overwhelmed when news broke of their first-ever Grammy nomination. Their “Daft Punk” medley (lifted from 2013's PTX: Vol II) landed in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Capella category. They face off against Pete McGuiness Jazz Orchestra (“Beautiful Dreamer”), Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band (“Get Smart”), Alfredo Rodriguez (“Guantanamera”) and Amy Dickson (“Moon River”).
