Back to Pentatonix
November 5th, 2013

We can’t stop watching and posting videos from singing group Pentatonix, but who are they? Where did they come from?

Before you scroll down and watch their latest medley, learn some facts about our fave new glee group!

1. This is Pentatonix.
What a cute bunch!

2. They were the winners of The Sing Off’s third season.
Yes, there was a show called The Sing Off. Yes, there have been three seasons so far (and a fourth one coming soon). We didn’t know this was a thing either. But hey, thanks for giving us a group like Pentatonix!

3. They usually cover acts on their own, but was accompanied by The Sing Off host Nick Lachey on the show’s finale when they performed a 98 Degrees song.
They performed Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche). Y’know, that monster hit? Yeah…

4. This isn’t the first time member Scott Hoying has been on TV, though.
Scott was a finalist on CBS’s Star Search once!

5. Their name is a little nerdy, but very appropriate.
Pentatonix is taken from the pentatonic scale, a five-note musical scale. Five note, five group members — GENIUS. Watch the group explain it in detail in the video below.

6. They’re super young.
All five members are under 25 years of age. What. The. Eff.

7. They have three EPs out.
In the past two years, Pentatonix have put out three EPs — Volume 1 featuring covers of Gotye, fun. and Nicki Minaj; a Christmas collection called PTXmas and Volume 2, which came out today! Even though they’ve covered a lot of artists, some of these releases do have original songs from the group, though. Such as the one below — listen!

8. They just put out a new video!
This time, they’ve decided to get futuristic and cover French electronic duo Daft Punk. And yes, it’s amazing. Watch the clip below!
