AMANDA PALMER’S “OASIS” VIDEO BANNED IN U.K.

AMANDA TO CONTINUE WORLDWIDE TOUR WITH NEW U.S. DATES INCLUDING SXSW & COACHELLA

“WHO KILLED AMANDA PALMER” PHOTO BOOK WITH NEIL GAIMAN DUE IN MAY

Los Angeles, CA – Feb 23, 2009 - Amanda Palmer - the one-woman machine who is equal parts rock musician, artist, writer, director, yoga enthusiast, political activist and more continues to take the world by storm. Having been on a worldwide tour since last September when she released her critically acclaimed Ben-Folds-produced solo debut, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, Amanda has captivated audiences in Europe, North America, Australia and the U.K. with a theatrical stage show featuring a troupe of top-notch performance artists. Meanwhile Amanda’s latest video for her scrumptious pop song “Oasis” has been banned from the U.K. airwaves on the basis that it “makes light of rape, religion and abortion.” Amanda blogged her response to the situation, defending her tongue-in-cheek and self-admittedly autobiographical song about a teenage girl in denial by saying, “When you cannot joke about the darkness of life, that's when the darkness takes over." Between Amanda's blog sites and a recent re-posting in the Huffington Post, the post has elicited in excess of 1000 thoughtful comments. Follow the ongoing discussion and watch the video for "Oasis" on Palmer's primary blog site: http://blog.amandapalmer.net/post/75463717/on-abortion-rape-art-and-humor

Amanda Palmer will continue her worldwide trek with new U.S. dates this Spring beginning with two showcases in Austin at the SXSW festival and a coveted spot alongside Paul McCartney and The Cure among others at the Coachella Festival on April 18. The New York Examiner had this say about Amanda’s live performances: “Amanda Palmer is the type of performer that all others should aspire to be – bold, raw, touching, and fearless. Remarkable!!” The tour will continue through the Summer. See below for full tour details.

Continually adding fuel to the multi-media Who Killed Amanda Palmer project, Amanda is also set to release a fine-art hardback book of "photographic evidence" with contributions from celebrated blogger and photographer Kyle Cassidy, Beth Hommel, Tegan Rain (of Tegan and Sara) and many others. Fictional stories to accompany the photographs have been penned by best-selling author Neil Gaiman, known primarily for his work on the Sandman graphic novels, The Graveyard Book and the new box-office smash Coraline, a stop-animation film based on his novel of the same title. In addition, Amanda has tirelessly shot videos for every song on Who Killed Amanda Palmer and will release them on DVD in June. The DVD release, like the book, will also don the name Who Killed Amanda Palmer.

Amanda has also hopped on the Twitter wagon and has been posting haikus and announcing surprise webcasts to a quickly growing group of followers (twitter.com/amandapalmer). One recent tweet revealed a URL to a live video stream of Amanda at a high-fashion photoshoot in a London studio, though fans were soon faced with a disappointingly blank screen when the streaming server blocked Amanda's transmission due to the presence of tits. Steps are being taken to locate a respectable tit-friendly streaming service and Amanda joyfully continues her daily struggle with the fine line between Art, Sex, Darkness and Lightness.
