October 21, 2013
Thirty Seconds to Mars is on tour in support of their latest release " Love Lust Faith + Dreams". The band performed a very special homecoming show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October,12th. The Bowl which holds 17,000 people is the largest U.S show that the band has performed in. The band teamed up with Vyrt to broadcast the event live for fans around the world. The bands New Politics and Panic! at the Disco opened the show.

The band kicked off the show with “Birth”, “Night of the Hunter” and “Search + Destroy”, which got the crowd on up on their feet and singing along. The opening consists of a high production video backdrop and heavy visuals, backing Taiko drummers, ballons, impact ball and blimp flying through the crowd.

Leto addressed the crowd shortly after with "Hollywood, I know half of you here. I want everyone to have the best night of your entire f... lives. Let’s jump so high we touch the moon". He later mentioned that when he and his brother {drummer Shannon} moved to Hollywood to pursue music that he never imagined that they would be performing at the legendary Hollywood Bowl.

The band which consists of Jared Leto on lead vocals and guitar, Shannon Leto on drums and Tomo Milicevic on guitarist and keyboards performed with enthusiastic energy, that impacted the powerful words and vocals that Jared sang.

A highlight of the evening was the performance of their hit song "This Is War" which sounded just as good live as it does on the record.

Jared also made note to mention that the band was having donation buckets being passed around at the moment for Aids Project LA. He mentioned that his new movie "Dallas Buyers Club" will be out next month. In the movie which is his first film role in six years, Leto portrays a transgender aids victim.

That was the only mention or sign during that he is also a popular actor in Hollywood. Leto was all rockstar tonight with his hair long to his shoulders while commanding the attention of the 17,000 people in the audience.

Another highlight came mid way through the show where on the stage were only circus type acrobats performing flips on stage using a see saw and a guy on a gyroscope cry wheel.

As the audience set focus on the stage, Jared had made his way towards the back of the audience. He performed on a riser set up in the middle of a section. He performed an acoustic version of “The Kill”.

He mentioned that he was sick with a cold after coughing, but was not missing the chance to perform for the fans. Many traveled from all over the world. Everytime Jared would ask someone where they were from the answer was always a place outside of town. During the acoustic set a guy fan made his way to the platform wanting a photo with Jared. The guy mentioned that he had drove 11 hours for this show. He wrapped up his acoustic set then walked through the audience back to the stage where he joined the band back on the stage for more songs before leaving stage then returning for the encore.

The encore began with “Kings and Queens,” and "Closer to the Edge". Then Jared said that the band had a surprise of “something special, only for you.” On the screens appeared the premiere of their brand new music video for their song “City of Angels". The video featured interviews with celebrities such as Kanye West, James Franco, Selena Gomez and Hollywood Blvd tourists characters such as Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Superman and more describing their lives and the city of Los Angeles.

The group finished their concert with their song “Up In the Air” as the stage filled with fans that Jared called up to join the band the stage. Jared announced to the crowd that if they purchased their current cd at the show that the band would sign every single copy after the show. "We are going to do this old school style like back in the day when we used to play The Roxy." stated Leto. After the show the band participated in the album signing that had over 1,000 attendees in line waiting.

Thirty Seconds to Mars has a very special connection to their very dedicated groups of fans. They are a one entertaining group to see live and the show at the Hollywood Bowl was no exception.
