Kongos to play Peoria riverfront in June
The Kongos, a South African alternative rock band made up of brothers
Johnny, Jesse, Dylan and Daniel Kongos, will perform June 29 at CEFCU
Center Stage on the Peoria Riverfront.
The bandmates, sons of British singer-songwriter John Kongos, grew up
in London and South Africa and are now based in Phoenix, Ariz. Their
songs “Come with Me Now” and “I’m Only Joking”
have been rising on the Billboard charts, and their music has a “hard
to deny stomp factor,” according to a reviewer for The Guardian.
Rolling Stone put the band on its “10 Artists You Need to Know”
list in February.
Tickets are $15 at the gate or $12 in advance. Tickets go on sale at
10 a.m. Saturday at all Co-Op Records stores, Emack and Bolio’s
ice cream stores or by phone at (800) 514-3849.
