MTV "Buzz" artist Trevor Hall returns to D.M.

Last fall Trevor Hall was starting to feel like a regular around Des Moines. He played three shows in three months, including opening spots with Michael Franti and Matisyahu. Almost a year later, Hall is back, touring in support of his self-titled 2009 album.

"Trevor Hall" marked a slight switch for Hall as the singer incorporated more of a reggae style into his work. "I didn't say 'I want to write a reggae song,'" Hall said in an interview with the Register last year. "It just subconsciously came out in the work. I wanted to explore that."

Hall's biggest break came in 2007 when his song "Other Ways" was featured on the "Shrek the Third" soundtrack. But shortly after that success he was dropped by his label, Geffen. Before the release of "Trevor Hall" he signed with the independent label Vanguard Records. Hall has finished an album with Geffen, "The Elephants Door," which was not released, but copies were leaked to the Internet.

In January MTV named Hall has one of 20 emerging artists for its "Subway Fresh Buzz" campaign, spotlighting rising stars in various fields.

Earlier this summer Hall recently released a live album, "Chasing the Flame: On the Road with Trevor Hall." Hall has been playing unrecorded songs on his most recent tour, including the new song "All I Ever Knew."

"America's Got Talent" runner-up Cas Haley opens the show.
