Girl in a Coma plays The End on Sept. 4.
You could liken San Antonio pop/punk trio Girl in a Coma to My Chemical Romance — and not just because they both have horrible, horrible names. No, like MCR, the three young ladies of GIAC have gothic, melodramatic style in spades, but they temper it with classic rock reverence and clever, catchy melodies.

That mix impressed Joan Jett, who signed the band to her Blackheart Records and released their surprisingly strong sophomore album, Trio B.C., last year.

The show starts at 9 p.m. Sat., Sept. 4, at The End (2219 Elliston Place, 321-4457). Tickets are $10.
