Return to Girl In A Coma

Girl in a Coma

Is homogeneous music putting you to sleep? The Mexican-American female, queer-punk outfit Girl in a Coma should wake you right up. Nina Diaz brings sensual, vibrato-tinged vocals, reminiscent of Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe, to the table, while her sister, Phanie, and friend Jenn Alva create a percussive foundation true to classic punk—fast beats and driving bass lines. It’s no wonder Joan Jett immediately signed them to her label after hearing them perform once. Fences and Black Box Revelation will open. (Lexie Levitt) Friday 11.25 @ Kilby Court, 741 S. Kilby Court (330 West), 7 p.m., $10 in advance, $12 day of show
