"Fair" Assessment
Texas newcomers Fair To Midland already caught the ear of System Of A Down's Serj Tankian and could be one of 2007 breakout acts. The band, who recently teased audiences with their "Drawn And Quartered" EP, are finishing up their first full-length for Tankian's Serjical Strike records with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Silverchair). Their sound offers a fresh feel on the old art/prog rock category. "We all generally have a rock backbone to us, but our preferences vary from one member to the next and we still
don't know what we want to sound like and I think that's what makes it so left-of-center is us trying to find that happy medium," says singer Darroh Sudderth. The vocalist also writes utilizing stream of consciousness lyrics, often leaving the interpretation to the
listener. The band will offer their full-length effort April 24th, and already have lined up a number of sold out shows with Dir En Grey to kick off 2007. Keep an ear out for rising rockers Fair To Midland.
