Return to James Durbin

He may have placed fourth on 10th season of American Idol but swaggering Cali-bred screamer James Durbin placed first in the hearts of millions of fans, not least because of his preference for meaty metal tunes over saccharine pop and his candor in dealing with Asperger’s and Tourette’s syndromes.

Quickly snapped up by Wind-Up Records (home to Evanescence and Creed) after the show, Durbin got down to work creating his debut album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster. Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Three Doors Down), the 11-track disc showcases Durbin’s fiery vocal style against a backdrop of crunching tunes destined to prompt righteous three-finger devil salutes in listeners worldwide.

Indeed, Revolver Magazine called Durbin “the 1st certified metalhead of [Idol’s] decade-long reign” and his debut is a tribute to the almighty rock. We at inMusic are thrilled to be streaming the entire recording ahead of its November 21 release – check it out below.

Trivia: Football fans will recognize the track “Stand Up,” which was recorded for the NFL and used in all NFL team promos for the 2011 season.
