On August 20, American Idol season 10 fourth place finalist James Durbin performed for StageIt’s official website, which allows music fans to experience mini-concerts of their favorite artists through the comfort of their computer screens.

In addition, fans are able to “tip” their favorite artists virtually and the top three tippers were to receive prizes.

James performed his entire set on a stool, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. He played live at the StageIt Headquarters in California.
The Santa Cruz, California, native opened with “All I Want,” where he showcased his trademark pipes.

“Woo-hoo,” James exclaimed. “How is everybody doing out there? All right.”

“The next song is a song for the ‘Outcast,” the rock sensation said, prior to belting out a powerhouse rendition of “Outcast.”
Mick Mars from Motley Crue would have certainly been proud of his version of “Outcast.”

“Are you guys having fun?” the rock singer asked his virtual audience, as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
It was followed by a controlled and dynamic performance of “Right Behind You.”

He noted that there is a prize for the top tipper on StageIt, where the first place prize involved original artwork by James (who also enjoys drawing), as well as handwritten lyrics on a drum-head for the second place tipper, and for the third place tipper a signed T-shirt of his.
“You’ll like this one,” James said and he delivered a soaring version of “Higher Than Heaven.”

After a drink of water, he debuted a fun new song entitled “Only Regret” from his forthcoming record.

“Thank you,” he said following his virtual audience’s warm reception, which provided feedback to him via instant messaging.

“That was fun,” James added. “I wish I could play you the whole new record, but I can’t wait until I can, since all of these new songs are a lot of fun to play,” he said.

He continued with “Louder Than a Loaded Gun” and he went on to nail the rock ballad “May,” which was raw and powerful.

“Thank you,” he said while wiping the sweat off his forehead yet again. “If I wasn’t so attached to this shirt, this would go to the top tipper,” he said with a laugh.

He concluded by singing a new song from the upcoming CD and he hoped that his fans would like it as well.

The undisclosed new song was equally captivating and James ended his show on a high note, since he broke a guitar string.
“Peace out. Rock on everybody and thanks for coming,” he said.

The Verdict
Overall, James Durbin was able to put on a top-notch solo rock show at StageIt Headquarters. He sang with a lot of range and he was extremely passionate about his songs and new music. Although he only performed for about 40 minutes, it was a high-quality show. He garners 5 out of 5 stars.
This mini-concert was a substantial indication that James is one of the top three greatest male performers in the history of the American Idol competition, along with Adam Lambert and David Cook.
