American Idol alum and rock singer-songwriter James Durbin released his first single "Parachute" from his sophomore album on Wind-Up Records on November 22.
It was the tenth song that he had written for his new record, but as soon as the Idol alum had completed the project, he knew immediately that it has be to the first single, according to a press release.

He is expected to release a lyric video for the new single in December, and judging from his past work, if it is anything as compelling as his music video for "Love Me Bad," his fans will be in for a real treat. It is expected to impact Top 40 and adult contemporary radio in January of 2014.

Durbin is confirmed to attend the American Music Awards (AMA) red carpet pre-show this Sunday, November 24, where he will make a special appearance and chat about his new music.

"Parachute" is Durbin's first new music since his previous two singles were released in 2011, "Love Me Bad" and "Stand Up" respectively. "Love Me Bad" made it into the Top 30 on Hot AC/Top 40 radio, while his rock single "Stand Up" was a Top 20 hit. They were both on his debut album Memories of a Beautiful Disaster" which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Rock Album Charts, as well as No. 36 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, thus selling over 120,000 copies to date; moreover, his album was named one of Billboard's "Best Rock Albums of 2012."
