Video: 'American Idol' David Cook releases new single 'Gimme Heartbreak,' announces tour including Oklahoma shows

Former Tulsan and "American Idol" winner David Cook has premiered his new single, ”Gimme Heartbreak” on Yahoo! Music. To listen there, click here, and check out the video of Cook playing the new song live.

“Gimme Heartbreak” is the lead track from Cook’s forthcoming untitled EP, which is slated to be released later this fall. He is again involving his fans in the music-making process via a PledgeMusic Campaign at

“Gimme Heartbreak” is available on all digital providers today and is the first new music from the singer-songwriter since 2015’s "Digital Vein" album release, which debuted in the top 5 on Billboard’s Pop Chart, according to a news release.

""Gimme Heartbreak' feels like a new chapter to me. New direction, new energy. A new sound that I'm excited to share and build on,” says Cook in the news release.

 The platinum-selling recording artist also has announced dates for his summer tour, including a Sept. 6 Oklahoma City show at the newly restored Tower Theatre, 425 NW 23, and a Sept. 7 Tulsa show at The Shrine, 112 E 18.

About David Cook
Formerly based in Tulsa, David Cook immediately launched to stardom following his Season 7 "American Idol" title.
