We had the chance to catch up with Margaret in her very busy schedule...

Firstly, how have you been?

Very well, thank you!

What made you decide to get into stand up?

It was that or Wonder Woman! I was about 8 years old when I made the decision.

How did it feel to recently be named one of Rolling Stones 50 best Stand up Comics? How did you find out the news?

I found out from my publicist and manager - very exciting! I think it's wonderful. I’ve have devoted my life to comedy so this is great validation!

SO, your UK tour – Fresh off the Bloat… starts in November? Tell me more?

It's a brutal and savage show – I am really excited about it. I will take on whitewashing in the media, Asian representation, the idiocy of trump and the journey of self-destruction and self-reconstruction.

You also have a new TV project called Highland. What is the show all about?

It’s a show all about a Korean American family caught up in the big marijuana boom in California. I play a recovering drug addict with lots of secrets forced to work in my family's pot business.

Which comedians have had a big influence on you?

Joan Rivers - the biggest influence and my mentor and champion.

What do you love about the UK?

The accents and the food – I love it!

I hear you love a challenge? What has been your biggest Challenge so far?

Staying alive!

In your spare time, and when not on stage, what do you enjoy doing? Any hobbies?

I am a yoga junkie and a chef - exercise and cooking are my life - two sides of the same coin.

An important cause to you is tackling the homeless community in San Francisco? Tell me a bit more about your involvement?

I started a homeless outreach called #berobin to honor Robin Williams and his long time commitment to charity. It was a nice way to remember him and help others.

Quick-fire questions…

What was your first ever job?

Short order cook.

Name one pet peeve or thing that really annoys you

Having to pee all the time.
