Capital Cities | The Ogden Theatre | October 1st
October 3, 2014
It's a rare occurrence that we get to see three great bands on one bill (unless it's a local show). Wednesday found us at The Ogden Theatre (seems like we lived there this week) for Capital Cities. Before I begin we got there in time to catch the openers, a rare case usually occupied by us looking for parking around the venue for a good hour or so. First up was Fenech Soler, the electro-pop outfit from across the pond. They did manage to create a bit of dance buzz to those early revelers that arrived. A perfect compliment to the headliners. Next up was one of our favorites Little Daylight, we last saw them a few months ago in August at Larimer Lounge and were pretty excited they made it on this tour. There cover of Bowie's "Let's Dance" has definitely made our list of best covers (yes, we actually keep a list). If you get a chance please go see this band, they are fun, energetic and have a hot female singer.

Last but not least Capital Cities took the stage. Billed as one of the best live acts around, this was our second time seeing them and just like before, we were left in awe. The band consists of several members but the duo of Sebu Simonian and Ryan Merchant have this masterful aura around how they interact with their live audience and the energy that comes from it. Playful at times the band manages to capture you not only with witty banter, but with infectious beats that make you want to dance no matter how many beers you have drank. The highlight of the night included the cover of "Staying Alive" by The BeeGees as well as "Holiday" by Madonna. Lucky for us we get to see the band next week at Austin City Limits.
