Pop duo Capital Cities is on a roll lately. Their music video for “Safe and Sound” was nominated for two 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

These included nods in such technical categories as “Best Art Direction” and “Best Visual Effects.” The MTV VMA ceremony took place on August 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Their “Safe and Sound” music video was honored with their first MTV VMA award for “Best Visual Effects,” where they bested out such fellow nominees as Duck Sauce, Flying Lotus, Skrillex (featuring The Doors), as well as The Weeknd.

MTV News congratulated the band via a tweet on their official Twitter page, and Capital Cities retweeted MTV’s congratulatory remarks to their fans and followers.

Now in its 16th week on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, their latest single “Safe and Sound” still sits in the top 10, for the week ending August 31.

According to an article on Yahoo's Music page, the song has sold over one million digital units.
