After 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, pop duo Capital Cities’ new single “Safe and Sound” has made its way into the Top 10, thus sitting at No. 9 for the week ending August 17.
“Safe and Sound” was written by the pop duo, which is made up of Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. It is the opening track on their debut studio effort “In a Tidal Wave of Mystery” which was released in June 2013 by their label, Capitol Records.
Their song’s music video, directed by Grady Hall, has been well-received by their fans and peers in the industry alike. It has garnered two 2013 MTV Video Music Award (VMA) nominations for “Best Visual Effects” and “Best Art Direction.”
The Verdict
The song's rich and addicting lyrics and melodies, juxtaposed with its unique trumpet riffs, help elevate the tune to a higher level. It is a smooth vocal and has that catchy dance vibe to it. You cannot help but blast this song in your car, especially when you hear it on the radio, or when you are driving on the highway. It has a lot of potential and it should be a No. 1 hit for the duo.
